Eric Sampsell PT, ATC, CMP
Mr. Sampsell is a licensed physical therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer who is the Director of Physical Therapy at Robinwood Orthopedic Specialty Center Physical Therapy. Eric graduated from the University of Charleston (WV) in 1997 with a BS in Sports Medicine where he also was a Scholar All-American and team captain on the baseball team. He later tried out professionally with the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. While studying athletic training, he performed a clinical rotation with the Erie Seawolves, a AA team in the Eastern League under the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer’s Society. After passing his national certification exam to become a certified athletic trainer (ATC), he received his Masters in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University (SU) in 2000. While at SU, he was able to work with the Women’s World Cup Soccer Team from Holland while on a clinical rotation in Cape Cod.
Having suffered significant baseball specific injuries, he decided to focus on treating the adolescent athlete, especially those playing baseball. Professionally, he continues his education through various course work from some of the top physicians, physical therapists and athletic trainers in the country, including the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainer’s Conference. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as well as the Sports Section of the APTA. He is also a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA). He is a published author, writing the chapter Rehabilitation of the Spine Following Sports Injury in the textbook Clinics in Sports Medicine published in January 2010. Mr. Sampsell recently finished a 15 month endeavor to become a Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP) in the field of manual therapy. He is one of only 240 physical therapists in the country with this certification and one of 5 in the state of MD and PA and the only one in all of WV.
Matthew Dicks DPT
Mr. Dicks is a graduate from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Science program. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in May 2008. Prior to completing his professional degree, he completed an internship at Fischer Sports Physical Therapy & Conditioning in Phoenix, AZ for orthopaedic injuries associated with amateur, collegiate, and professional athletes. He has continued to further his knowledge following the completion of his degree with continuing education in the areas of the shoulder and the knee. His main areas of interest are treating patients with sports related injuries and orthopedic rehabilitation of the shoulder, knee, and ankle. He has been with Robinwood Orthopaedic Specialty Center PT since November 2010.
Kate Rhodes, DPT
Mrs. Rhodes completed her graduate degree in Physical Therapy at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology from West Virginia University. Mrs. Rhodes has completed additional courses in manual and orthopedic therapy, with special interest in shoulder and knee rehabilitation along with sports physical therapy. She has been with Robinwood Orthopaedic Specialty Center since July 2011.
Brian Pikerowski, PTA, LMT, CKTP
Mr. Pikerowski is a physical therapy assistant who holds an Associates Degree in Applied Science, graduating from Allegany College in 2006. Other than being a PTA, he is a licensed massage therapist, holding a certification from the Virginia School of Massage. He has been a licensed massage therapist since 1998. He is a former football player at the high school, college, and semi-professional level and has a specific interest in working with athletic injuries and orthopedic dysfunction. Brian has been a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner since June 2011 and has brought this new form of therapy into Robinwood Orthopaedics very successfully. He has been with Robinwood Orthopaedic Specialty Center PT since September 2010.
Wendy Musser PTA
Ms. Musser has been a licensed physical therapy assistant for the last 22 years, graduating from Pennsylvania State University, Mont Alto Campus in 1988 with an Associates in Science Degree. She began her career at Washington County Hospital, later practicing in Annapolis, MD in an out patient orthopedic facility for the next 14 years. Since this time, she has focused in the out patient setting and has a furthered her education in the area of acute pain relief, utilizing techniques such as Strain-Counterstrain and Integrated Manual Therapy, often benefiting those with post-surgical pain and new pain following an injury. She has been with Robinwood Orthopaedic Specialty Center PT since November 2010.
